This is a vision of hope for a new dawn of love and respect for the earth at a time when reconnection to our natural environment is essential. Nature, embodied as a young woman, breaks through the transparent veil from a higher world of light to this plane, bringing the dawn of a new sun with new hope. Her compassionate gaze gently challenges us to wake up. Ferdinand Hodler, the Swiss Symbolist artist conceived of woman as the embodiment of the desire for harmony with nature. The Iris symbolises faith, hope, wisdom, courage, and admiration. The iris’s history is rich, dating back to Ancient Greek times when the Greek Goddess Iris, the messenger of the gods and the personification of the rainbow, acted as the link between heaven and earth. Purple irises were planted over the graves of women to summon the Goddess to guide the dead in their journey.
