The Quest is one of the principal archetypes in the passage of the human soul. The journey ostensibly for knowledge and discovery through the sciences and the arts is really the journey of self discovery. Quetzalcoatl, the Mesoamerican deity, represents learning and the arts and the evolution of civilisation as well as vegetative renewal and healing. The three muses are his guides. He was also a tenth century priest-king of the Toltec of northern Mexico who embarked on a major journey taking his followers and knowledge of architecture and astronomy to found new cities in the Yucatan. His shield is the shell which embodies the Fibonacci sequence or Golden spiral and he is armed with the vision serpent that connects him with other realms of consciousness. His quest is enlightenment through knowledge and insight.
